Military Walking Tours
Military Westminster and WhitehallAs the centre of British government for centuries, many of the buildings up and down Whitehall, including the Houses of Parliament and 10 Downing Street, have been the crucible of British military decision making for nearly 1,000 years. It is also a huge open air gallery full of monuments and memorials, perhaps the most famous being Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, by some of the country's finest artists. The walk from Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square via Horse Guards Parade uses this rich landscape to bring to life different episodes of Britain's military history. The walk can dovetail neatly with a visit to any of the surrounding museums.
